Following up on the recent conclusion of the rebooted Urusei Yatsura anime, another Rumiko Takahashi classic is getting its time in the spotlight. The manga author’s official X (formerly Twitter) account revealed plans for a new Ranma 1/2 anime, with more info to come during a news stream on July 17, 2024.
Rumiko Takahashi originally serialized the Ranma 1/2 manga in the pages of Weekly Shonen Sunday from August 1987 to March 1996, ultimately collecting it in 38 volumes. It went on to inspire a 143-episode TV anime by Studio DEEN and aired on Animax in Asia in English dub.
Synopsis:
Years ago, Genma promised his old friend Soun Tendo that Ranma would marry one of Sounโs three daughters and carry on the familyโs martial arts school. Except that the girl picked to be Ranmaโs bride doesnโt seem to like him, Ranma keeps getting into fightsโฆand did we mention that whole changing into a girl thing?
