BOCCHI THE ROCK! Recap Movies Surpass 1 Billion Yen in Total Japan Box Office Gross
The BOCCHI THE ROCK! anime series account announced today that the combined cumulative total gross of the two BOCCHI THE ROCK! recap movies in Japan have surpassed 1 billion yen (6.89 million USD).
BOCCHI THE ROCK! Re:, the first of the two-part recap films based on the BOCCHI THE ROCK! TV anime series, opened in 132 theaters across Japan on June 7, making a first-place debut in the weekend box office ranking. The first part made 640 million yen (4.41 million USD) from 420,000 admissions according to Animate Times.
The second part, BOCCHI THE ROCK! Re:Re: followed on August 9 and ranked sixth in its opening weekend. Re:Re: now has an accumulative box office of 390 million yen (2.69 million USD) from 250,000 ticket sales since its debut. As a result, the combined cumulative box revenue of the two films has reached 1.03 billion yen (7.09 million USD). The anime franchise’s official X account reported that the total ticket sales has surpassed 680,000.
Synopsis:
Hitori Gotoh, โBocchi-chan,โ is a girl whoโs so introverted and shy around people that sheโd always start her conversations with โAh…โ During her middle school years, she started playing the guitar, wanting to join a band because she thought it could be an opportunity for even someone shy like her to also shine. But because she had no friends, she ended up practicing guitar for six hours every day all by herself. But not only could she not find any bandmates, before she knew it, she was in high school and still wasnโt able to make a single friend!
