As reported by Anime News Network, Manga creator Mizuho Kusanagi took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday to announce that her renowned series, “Yona of the Dawn” (Akatsuki no Yona), has entered its final arc. The revelation coincided with the manga’s recognition in the Long Seller Comics Division, winning the Rakuten Kobo e-Book Award 2024.
Kusanagi, known for works like “Mugen Spiral,” “Game X Rush,” and “NG Life,” initiated the “Yona of the Dawn” manga serialization in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine back in 2009. The forthcoming 44th compiled volume is slated for release in Japan on June 20.
For English readers, Viz Media has announced the release of the 42nd volume on September 3.
The manga’s popularity spawned a 24-episode television anime adaptation in 2014, along with three original anime DVDs in 2015 and 2016. Funimation handled the home video release of the television anime.
Beyond the realm of anime, “Yona of the Dawn” found its way onto the stage with its first stage play in March 2016, followed by another in November 2018 in Tokyo. A third stage play took place in Tokyo in November 2019, with a musical stage adaptation scheduled for July in the same city.
