Mumbai Comic Con 2025: Co Founder Chinmay’s Unforgettable Adventure! Thank you, Crunchyroll!

History was made, again—and this time, it was Mumbai’s turn to feel the power of the Anime Society! After the unforgettable success of Anime Society attending Kolkata Comic Con 2025—led by none other than our Admin Arian—it was time to take things to the next level. And boy, did we deliver. Enter Mumbai Comic Con 2025, where history repeated itself, but with an even louder cheer. Our Co-Founder and Admin, Chinmay Kore, repping Anime Society in full Media Partner mode (yeah, that’s right, Media Partner, baby), was officially invited by Crunchyroll itself. That’s not just a feather in the cap—that’s the whole damn bird. On April 12, 2025, Chinmay proudly marched into the legendary Comic Con Mumbai 2025, and what followed was nothing short of iconic.

But hold onto your senpai hats, because this wasn’t just another weekend cosplay fest. Oh no, fellow otakus and pop-culture warriors. This event was the moment. A legendary checkpoint in Anime Society’s journey. This wasn’t a casual stroll into the con with a camera—this was Crunchyroll themselves giving us a special invitation to join them as a Media Partner.

Yes, THE Crunchyroll. It’s basically like unlocking an S-Rank quest IRL, and spoiler alert: we accepted the mission. With anime-fueled adrenaline and a phone battery that barely made it, Co-Founder Chinmay from the streets of Mumbai stepped into this explosive celebration of fandom, ready to cover it all—armed only with his camera, his inner introvert, and a burning passion for the culture.

And then… the gates opened. The Jio World Convention Center transformed into a literal shrine for every geek, nerd, and weeb who dared to dream. One step in, and you knew—knew—you had reached a sacred land. From towering cutouts of iconic characters to massive booths that demanded your attention (and your wallet), the con floor was soaked in energy, nostalgia, and a whole lot of hype. Banners screamed, “You belong here,” while crowds responded with uncontainable excitement. It wasn’t just an event. It was a spiritual awakening, with background music straight out of a shounen opening and the aroma of overpriced popcorn floating in the air.

Let’s talk about the merch, because holy mother of Zoro’s swords— it was a paradise. Figurines so detailed they looked like they’d start talking, keychains tempting you to start collecting a hundred, and yes, even real katanas were up for grabs (but no, our Co-Founder didn’t buy one… man’s on a budget, don’t judge). It was the kind of market that could bankrupt a billionaire and still leave them wanting more. Whether you were a casual collector or a full-blown shrine-builder, there was something for every fandom heart. Tears were shed. Wallets were emptied. Regrets? Zero. Only joy.

The list of epic stalls read like a Hall of Fame roll call. Alpha Comics, Starmark Publishers, Amar Chitra Katha, The Jungle Heroes, Penguin Random House, Holy Cow Entertainment, Induverse Endwars, Planet Superheroes, and Fatcat Collectibles—each brought their A-game, offering everything from rare graphic novels to superhero memorabilia. And the vibes? Immaculate. Each stall felt like a tiny fandom kingdom, waiting to be explored. Even casual passersby were converted on the spot. There were screams of “Take my money!” echoing through the hall like war cries of proud nerds on a pilgrimage.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get more global, boom—international stalls entered the chat. With giants like Marvel, Swat Kats, Viz Media, and more throwing their weight in, the con had a true global flavor. It was like stepping into an anime multiverse where East met West, and every fandom united under one massive roof. Co-Founder Chinmay took it all in—quietly, introvert-style, of course—but with eyes wide and heart full. Because in that sea of passionate fans and legendary brands, one thing was clear: Anime Society was no longer just attending cons. We were becoming part of the story.

Co Founder Chinmay was super excited when he saw Bocchi. If not EMIs, definitely he would’ve brought Bocchi Figurine lol.

The Legendary Crunchyroll Booth: A Lone CoFounder’s Dilemma

Of course, Crunchyroll, the MVP of the anime world, had one of the most happening booths at Comic Con. Their signature was One Piece Egg Head Laboratory which was super cool.

Camera Photobooth was an absolute fan favorite, letting attendees strike their most dramatic anime poses in epic slow-motion glory. Unfortunately… our dear introvert Co Founder Chinmay didn’t take a single picture in Slow Motion. Why? Because, well, introvert things. Posing and all not his stuff, lol.

Also, the Crunchyroll booth had Kaiju No 8 Missions for Kaiju No 8 Fans.

You needed one person to participate and find clues about Kaijus, unfortunately Co Founder was alone, so didn’t participate in Kaiju No 8 stuff lol.

Also, Crunchyroll brought DJ Kazu back for blockbuster anime songs performance on Crunchyroll booth. It was so much awesome dancing and singing with him on Crunchyroll booth on his favorite Japanese songs. Literally, it brought tears in his eyes when Orb: The Movements of the Earth Song was played, then popular music and dancing with him was great experience for weeb like Co Founder.  Luckily he got chance to take a photo with him, Co-founder’s photography skills are poor, but at least he took a photo with Dj Kazu.

Also, Crunchyroll invited superstars the Voice Actors, i.e., Kappei Yamaguchi, the voice actor of Inuyasha, Shinichi Kudo, Hiroaki Hirata the voice actor of Shiro, Nanba Mutta, Sanji.

It was a great pleasure to see them live performing the voice acting from One Piece, and their experience was great adventure for weebs. Over 1 Lakh People were standing just to see them voice their favorite character. Literally, there was no place to stand. Our admin enjoyed their performance lot.

Viz Media Booth Booth:

Viz Media had set up their booth with exciting comics and posters from popular franchises like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Bleach, Spirited Away, Naruto and others.

Bandai Namco Booth:

Bandai Namco also had set up booth featuring games and merchandise of favorite franchises like That Time I Got Reincarnated as Slime, Blue Lock, Naruto etc.

Yen Press Booth

Yen Press the leading Japanese novel distributor which distributes popular titles like Overlord, Re Zero Starting Life in Another World, Bungo Stray Dogs etc also had set up their booth and it was pleasure to read LNs for free first time from official licensor lol.

Bushiroad Booth:

Bushiroad the official distributor of Card Fight Vanguard Series, Nikke Game, and merchandise from Oshi no Ko, Bocchi The Rock were also present at the Mumbai Comic Con 2025, it was great experience seeing their booth especially love for Card Fight Vanguard which he grew up watching on Animax, unfortunately Indians don’t know anything about this lol.

This ends our anime extravaganza. Even small shops were there selling anime goodies and merchandise for fans.

Hollywood Experience:

Warner Bros was present for an event with Superman and The Final Destination photo shoots for fans. Co Founder Chinmay took a photo with Superman, his favorite superhero lol.

Universal Pictures India was also present on Mumbai Comic Con 2025. Co Founder Chinmay took photos here also.

Also, many others like Marvel were present. It was a great experience for Hollywood fans to take photos with their favorite franchises.

Swat Kids Creator:

Mumbai Comic 2025 was surprised when the creator of Swat Kats attended and shared his experiences on the big stage. It was a great pleasure to see him live.

Cosplay Competition and Cosplayers:

The sheer dedication and passion of the participants were beyond mind-blowing. Some spent months—if not an entire year—perfecting their costumes, crafting armor, hand-stitching outfits, and even adding electronic effects to bring their characters to life. The attention to detail was astonishing—every thread, prop, and stance carefully designed to recreate the spirit of their chosen character.

And with that… the curtains fall—until we meet again next year!
As the sun set on the madness, the lights slowly faded, booths were lovingly disassembled, and cosplayers carefully unstrapped their oversized swords (some probably whispering, “see you soon, old friend”), the first day of Mumbai Comic Con 2025 came to an epic end. It was like the final episode of a beloved anime season—bittersweet, beautiful, and brimming with post-con withdrawal already kicking in.

And what a journey it was, folks.
From the moment the doors opened to the final whistle, it was an emotional rollercoaster filled with action, laughter, and jaw-dropping moments. Anime quizzes that tested our inner weeb, concerts that got us vibing, stand-up routines that had us snorting soda, and legendary comic artists sharing their magic—every minute packed a punch. Add in cosplay competitions that felt like Oscar-level showcases and merch stalls that made grown fans cry tears of joy (and maybe financial ruin), and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a con that’ll live on in our hearts—and photo albums—forever

For Co-Founder Chinmay, this wasn’t just a con. It was a crossover event of personal destiny.
Having grown up surrounded by manga pages, anime openings, and the sweet chaos of pop culture, getting to attend Mumbai Comic Con as a Media Partner was no less than a dream sequence. A once-in-a-lifetime arc. The kind of moment you pause and rewatch because it feels too good to be true. But it was real—and it was glorious.

Thank You Crunchyroll

And now, a massive, earth-shaking THANK YOU to Crunchyroll.
We’re talking full shonen protagonist gratitude here. From the bottom of our anime-loving hearts, thank you for making this moment possible. Being invited by Crunchyroll as an official media partner? That’s not just a win—it’s an SSS-Rank achievement unlocked. The Anime Society is beyond honored, beyond thrilled, and frankly, still in shock. You believed in us, and we won’t forget it.

We’ve leveled up, and we’re just getting started.
We’re already setting our sights on Comic Con 2026, both in Kolkata and Mumbai, and beyond. Bigger. Better. Even more chaotic (in the best way). So until we meet again under the bright lights and cosplaying skies—thank you. To the fans, the artists, the brands, the legends… and especially Crunchyroll. You made dreams come true.

Until next year, this is Anime Society, signing off—for now.

LONG LIVE COMIC CON! LONG LIVE CRUNCHYROLL! SEE YOU IN 2026, Mumbai.
