Netflix has officially entered into a strategic partnership with MAPPA Co., Ltd., one of Japanβs most prominent animation studios, widely known for globally popular titles such as Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. The collaboration marks a significant expansion of Netflixβs commitment to anime and original Japanese animation for a worldwide audience.

Under this agreement, Netflix will exclusively stream a lineup of original anime titles produced by MAPPA on a global scale. The partnership is not limited to distribution alone; it spans multiple stages of production, including story planning, animation development, and merchandising. This integrated approach aims to create anime projects that resonate with fans across different regions while maintaining MAPPAβs distinctive creative identity.
A key highlight of the collaboration is the focus on simultaneous worldwide releases. New anime titles developed under this partnership will debut on Netflix at the same time across multiple countries, ensuring global audiences can experience these projects together without regional delays.
Manabu Otsuka, President and CEO of MAPPA, says, βWe have worked with Netflix on various projects in the past, but this expanded partnership is based on MAPPAβs core belief in being an independent studio β both creatively and in business. Japanese animation studios must proactively lead every stage, from understanding global audience needs and developing projects, to reaching viewers and expanding related businesses. MAPPA is committed to deepening our collaboration with Netflix, aiming for a long-term, win-win partnership.β
Kaata Sakamoto, Vice President of Content – Japan at Netflix, adds, βMAPPA is a remarkable studio that has continuously taken on bold challenges and achieved unprecedented forms of expression. At Netflix, we also value the passion and dedication of creators. By combining MAPPAβs unique approach to anime production with Netflixβs global reach β and the courage to take risks, which is essential to creating compelling content β we hope to further expand the possibilities of anime. We are fully committed to delivering new works and excitement to fans around the world.β
Netflix and MAPPA are no strangers to working together. The two companies have previously collaborated on projects such as Ranma 1/2 and Kakegurui Twin, building a foundation of trust and creative synergy. With this expanded partnership, both sides are now taking their collaboration to the next level.
Currently, multiple new anime projects are in various stages of planning and production as part of this agreement. While specific titles and release dates have yet to be revealed, the announcement signals an ambitious slate of upcoming MAPPA originals designed specifically for Netflixβs global platform.
This partnership further strengthens Netflixβs position as a major player in the anime industry while giving MAPPA greater opportunities to deliver high-quality, globally focused anime productions to fans around the world.
