U-NEXT HOLDINGS has entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire all 175 shares of animation studio GoHands and make it a subsidiary.

βΆοΈ English-language notice βοΈ
Expected synergies outlined by U-NEXT HOLDINGS:
1) Cost Synergies
By leveraging the diverse expertise and facilities GoHands has cultivated through animation production, U-NEXT expects to optimize costs and promote insourcing. Specifically, this will address external expenses currently incurred for the localization of overseas content, such as studio rentals and staffing.
2) Enhancement of Productivity and Quality through Provision of U-NEXT‘s Digital Technologies
Since U-NEXT utilizes cutting-edge digital technology in its content distribution services, it expects to further improve productivity and quality for GoHands in areas such as production management, data integration, and workflow optimization by providing U-NEXT‘s environment and expertise. Along with the expansion of production lines through increased staffing, U-NEXT aims to strengthen initiatives with major IPs and expand its revenue scale.
3) In-house Anime Production of U-NEXT‘s Own IP
In the long term, U-NEXT aims to achieve revenue growth by maximizing content value and diversifying revenue streams. This will be accomplished through in-house anime adaptations of hit titles, leveraging the synergy between U-NEXT‘s original book and comic publishing and GoHandsβ high-quality production capabilities.
